The parliament members who spoke in session noted that the Customs Code in Azerbaijan for the first time was adopted in 1997. Our country has joined a number of conventions in this field. Today the new stage of Azerbaijan’s economic development requires the improvement of customs legislation. The new draft Customs Code presented by the President of Azerbaijan to the National Assembly on the legislative initiative also meets the most modern requirements and standards. Adoption of the new Code will be an important step in the direction of our republic’s being a member to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
